How It Works: Most reading takes place during the first week of May, though Scouts can participate whenever convenient. Youth typically read at home with their families, choosing sections recommended by their parents or faith leaders. The time commitment is flexible—Cub Scouts might read for 1-5 minutes, while older youth may read up to an hour.

Why This Matters for Scouting: This event aligns with Scouting's values, principles, and spiritual aims. It provides leaders with a simple, respectful way to support a Scout's Duty to God by:

· Supporting the Scout Oath commitment to duty to God

· Encouraging personal reflection consistent with BSA principles

· Respecting each Scout's family and faith tradition
